Pat Broker of the IMESD loads supplies into a truck.

Six large pallets of donated items, gathered by the La Grande, Elgin and North Powder School Districts, are on the way to the Willamette Educational Service District. The pallets contain items like blankets, tarps, Gatorade, water, sleeping bags, school supplies, and First-Aid kits for distribution to districts impacted by the Oregon wildfires. Additionally, monetary donations have been collected, and will continue to be collected. 100% of the proceeds will be dispersed to victims of the wildfires.

Though physical donations are no longer being gathered, community members may still purchase a “La Grande Strong” sticker from the La Grande School District at any of our schools or at the District Office at 1305 Willow Street.  Donors may also provide monetary donations to the Colton, Estacada, & Molalla Wildfire Relief Fund, if they wish. Finally, the Associated Student Body of La Grande High School will be selling t-shirts and bracelets and the proceeds will go to the community members in the Phoenix-Talent School District.  The t-shirts and bracelets will be available on the La Grande High School Athletics/Activities page on Facebook.

Scott Carpenter, the La Grande School District’s Director of Educational Programs, says, “We are very appreciative to everyone who donated and are excited to continue supporting families who are affected by the Oregon Wildfires. LGSD is appreciative of anyone who can support this cause.”
