Morning Routines & On-Time Arrival: Helping Our Students Start the Day Ready to Learn!

Posted Date: 10/27/26 (09:21 AM)

Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we settle into the school year, we want to extend a sincere thank you for everything you do to support your children’s education. Our school community thrives when we work together, and today we are reaching out for your help with an important aspect of your child’s school day: morning arrival and punctuality.
Recently, we have noticed a growing number of students arriving at school after the morning bell has rung. We completely understand that morning routines can be hectic—from missing shoes to unexpected traffic, starting the day on schedule is a challenge every family faces at times!
However, arriving on time plays a critical role in your child’s social and academic success. Here is why being present for the full school day makes such a big difference for elementary students:
  • Building Strong Daily Habits: Punctuality is a lifelong skill. Learning the importance of being on time in elementary school sets up healthy habits for middle school, high school, and beyond.
  • Seamless Social Transitions: The first few minutes of the morning are when students greet their peers, eat breakfast, unpack their bags, and transition into the school mindset. Arriving on time allows children to feel settled, calm, and connected to their classroom community.
  • Maximizing Learning Time: Morning meeting and early instruction set the tone for the entire day. When students arrive late, they often miss crucial instructions, reading blocks, or interventions, making it harder to catch up.
  • Minimizing Classroom Disruptions: Late arrivals require teachers to pause instruction to get late students caught up, which takes valuable learning time away from the entire class.

How You Can Help

  • Aim for 5 to 10 Minutes Early: Planning to arrive a few minutes before the bell gives your child time to walk to their classroom without feeling rushed.
  • Set Morning Routines the Night Before: Laying out clothes, packing backpacks, and preparing lunches the evening before can turn stressful mornings into smooth sailings.
  • Reach Out to Us: If your family is experiencing specific challenges or hardships that make getting to school on time difficult, please let our office staff know. We are here to support you!
Together, we can help all of our young learners make the most of every school day!
Warmly,
