Welcome Back to La Grande High School!

Dear La Grande High School Students and Families,

On behalf of the faculty and staff at La Grande High School, I would like to welcome you to the start of another exciting school year! We hope you have had a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer. As we prepare to welcome students back into our classrooms, we are looking forward to a year filled with learning, growth, and new opportunities.

At La Grande High School, our goal is to provide every student with a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where they can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We encourage every student to become involved in the many academic, athletic, career and technical education (CTE), fine arts, and extracurricular activities that make our school community so special.

New Advisory Schedule

School begins at 8:20 a.m. and concludes at 3:10 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. We have a late start Wednesday which begins at 9:20 and concludes at 3:10. This year we are excited to introduce a dedicated Advisory period into our weekly schedule. Advisory is designed to strengthen relationships between students and staff while providing additional support for academic success, social-emotional learning, career and college readiness, and school connectedness.

During Advisory, students will have opportunities to:

  • Build meaningful relationships with a trusted adult at school.

  • Monitor academic progress and set personal goals.

  • Participate in career and college planning activities.

  • Receive schoolwide information and announcements.

  • Develop skills that support success both inside and outside the classroom.

Research consistently shows that students who feel connected to their school community are more likely to attend regularly, engage in learning, and achieve success. We are excited about the opportunities Advisory will provide for every student.

Looking Ahead

Regular attendance remains one of the strongest predictors of student success. We ask families to partner with us by encouraging students to attend school every day, arrive on time, and communicate with us whenever support is needed.

We also encourage families to stay informed by checking ParentVUE regularly, following school communications, and visiting our website and social media pages for updates throughout the year.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support of La Grande High School. We are honored to work alongside you in helping every student achieve their goals. Together, we will make this school year one filled with opportunity, achievement, and Tiger Pride.

We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

Go Tigers!

Sincerely,

Chelsea Hurliman
